On June 20, 2024, Busan Metropolitan City proudly announced the launch of the first-ever foreigner-only local currency service in Korea, which is called ‘BUSAN Pay.’ BUSAN Pay is a comprehensive travel companion that is utilized through a mobile app and prepaid card. It is packed with unique features tailored to the needs of overseas visitors, from Dongbaekjeon payments and a cashback system to a guide for public transportation, food, tourist attractions, and the Visit Busan Pass. To enhance the utmost convenience of inbound tourists, in addition to existing Dongbaekjeon merchants, select malls, department stores, and duty-free shops also accept BUSAN Pay; however, cashback is not credited at these locations. The list of participating BUSAN Pay establishments can be found on the app. The tourism feature delivers relevant information and may soon include promotional flyers and banners in different languages—English, Japanese, and Chinese—both on the app and website. Busan Metropolitan City and Korea Airports Corporation Embark on an Exciting Journey Together to Promote ‘Busan is Good.’
Busan Metropolitan City and Korea Airports Corporation Embark on an Exciting Journey Together to Promote ‘Busan is Good.’ On June 12, 2024, Busan Metropolitan City unveiled its distinctive branded wraps at the baggage claim area of Gimhae International Airport, a major entry point of Busan. Commencing on June 12, 2024, Busan Metropolitan City will strategically leverage the baggage claim area of Gimhae International Airport, a gateway that over 10 million passengers pass through annually, in order to amplify the city’s brand and showcase Boogi, the city’s public outreach character. This campaign, a significant and impactful endeavor, is set to elevate Busan's profile among domestic and international visitors. In close partnership with the Korea Airports Corporation, the city is determined to foster a positive image and promote, not only local tourism, but also the Gimhae International Airport. The new wrap design installation is a tangible expression of Busan’s commitment to the city’s vision and values. It features ▲ the slogan, ‘Busan is good’ ▲ the symbol marking (CI), slogan design (BI), custom patterns, and ▲ the public outreach character Boogi. The wraps adorn three baggage carousels in the domestic terminal and five in the international terminal. Boogi, prominently displayed on baggage carousels in the domestic terminal, exudes a warm welcome and brings diverse, dynamic images—'Busan is good to PLAY/WORK/LIVE’—to people who come to Busan. Making full use of the slogan, ‘Busan is good,’ and custom patterns, baggage carousels in the international terminal will intuitively convey the meaning of ‘BIG,’ an acronym for ‘Busan is good,’ and ‘GOOD,’ standing for ‘global, original, open, and dynamic.’ Promotional content for the Gimhae International Airport, including an introduction to the Boogi-themed wraps, can also be seen.
