Since the establishment of sister city relations, Busan and Auckland have actively made personal and administrative exchanges. It also has a sister city relationship with Fukuoka of Japan, which has an administrative partnership with Busan. Mr. Moon Jung-Soo, Mayor of Busan and Mr. Les Mills, Mayor of Auckland signed an agreement to establish sister city relations on April 22, 1996.
