At a Glance

Tijuana, located in the Northwest Pacific coastal area of Mexico, is the gateway between Mexico and Latin America. It borders the city of San Diego in California, U.S. and is the largest city in the Baja California state. The people living in the city are optimistic and kind.

The government of Mexico built up the Maquiladora Trade Zone to develop its industry. Nine hundred and ten factories among the 2,120 Maquiladora factories are located in Baja California State. Around six hundred factories among them are located in Tijuana.

The main industries of Tijuana are metal, food, wood processing and manufacturing. It has abundant natural resources.

Tijuana has sister city relationships with San Diego in the U.S., Chunjin in China, and Busan, ROK. Mr. Kim Ki-jae, the former Mayor of Busan and Mr. Hector Osuna, the former Mayor of Tijuana signed a sister city relationship agreement in Tijuana, on January 17, 1995.
