The Friedrich-Alexander University Busan campus located in the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) Jisa Area is expected to be promoted as a leading model of Industry - University collaboration for the colleges of Engineering in Korea. The Minister of Trade, Industry & Energy, Yoon Sang-jick visited the FAU Busan Campus on March 19 and announced plans to promote the FAU Busan Campus as an innovative model for engineering education in Korea.

The FAU Busan branch campus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide internships for its students with 23 German companies in Berlin on March 27, 2014.

Thomas A.H. Schöck, Managing Director of the FAU Busan Campus and the CEOs of five companies including Siemens and Krones AG are among the 23 German companies that signed the MoU. The German companies will operate a research internship program which the FAU Busan campus students can earn with their degree by basing their thesis on collaborative research done while completing their internship.

Founded in 1743, FAU ranks today among the top ten universities in Germany and is renowned in the field of Chemical and Bioengineering.  It is known for field centered education through well-built industry-university-institute cooperative training systems that produce highly qualified technical professionals.

The FAU Busan campus offers the same high quality education as well as an opportunity to earn the same prestigious Master’s degree as students at the Eerlangen-Nuremberg Campus in Germany. Therefore, a number of talented students who have graduated from prestigious universities in Korea have applied to the FAU Busan Campus. The Korean government plans to promote the FAU Busan campus as a model of industry-university cooperation for Colleges of Engineering in Korea.

The Busan campus is in the process of various domestic and foreign research projects.

The FAU Busan campus has six majors:  Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Thermodynamics, Environmental Process Engineering, and Mechanical Process Technology. The school recruits students twice a year, in the spring and fall, and plans to admit 25 new students for this upcoming fall semester.
