Busan is pushing ahead with plans to hold the 2030 EXPO in Busan, as one of the mayor's 6 main pledges.

For this, a "Busan Citizens Committee for the holding of the EXPO" was launched on November 12, 2014. It is composed of 30 representatives from the fields of academia, the press, NGOs and the economy. It will carry out activities to prepare for an official launching of the EXPO hosting plan, work to form a social consensus, help to develop a desire among the general public to invite the EXPO to Busan, and provide know-how on how to achieve this goal.

Busan held an international conference in this regard at the Haeundae Novotel Ambassador Hotel on December 4, with about 200 EXPO experts from Korea and abroad in attendance. They discussed and advised on strategies to build up their networks.
