□ For the first time in 2024, the Busan International Rock Festival was chosen as a Preliminary Cultural Tourism Festival for its quality content and significant impact on the local economy.
○ As one of Korea’s most iconic music festivals, the Busan International Rock Festival has seen a surge in popularity since 2022. In 2024, it expanded from two to three days, drawing a record-breaking attendance of 60,000.
○ Held at the spacious and scenic Samnak Eco Park, the festival showcased 78 renowned artists from Korea and abroad. With top-tier headliners, impressive lineups, and the country’s largest stage, it captivated younger audiences. Notably, 79% of attendees traveled from outside Busan.
○ In 2024, the festival launched its first-ever pre-event, the Road to BU-ROCK, in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu, which aroused an enthusiastic response. During the main event, Sasang-gu residents participated as volunteers and food truck operators, fostering a community-driven experience.
○ Embracing the gourmet getaways trend, the festival offered a mix of local delicacies and new menu items, including Milmyeon (wheat noodles in a cold meat broth), Dwaejigukbap (pork soup), Sandeomieomuk (spicy fish cakes), Agwigangjeong (sweet and tangy glazed fish fries), and Saewutangtangpajeon (shrimp and green onion pancakes). Dwaegalhu (fried pork ribs) was voted as a must-try dish.
