□ Busan Metropolitan City has revamped its current bus design, introduced back in 2016, for the first time in nine years and will hold the BIG BUS* Showcase at Busan Station Square on December 4th, 2024 at 11 am.
* BIG (Busan is good) BUS: new design for Busan’s city buses
○ Called the 'BIG BUS,' the new design for Busan’s city buses presents two styles for regular and seat-only buses. The BIG BUS highlights Busan’s image as well as visibility, aesthetics, and symbolism. Colors associated with cleanliness, eco-friendliness, and smartness are applied to regular buses. On the other hand, seat-only buses will be adorned with colors that produce a feeling of warmth, inclusiveness, and kindness.
○ The colors are not the only thing that is changing. The signage codes for routes, destinations, maps, and advertising have all been redesigned. The newest fleets on the road will have a captivating and fresh look, both inside and out.
□ With 2,517 buses in operation, transitioning to the BIG BUS will be done in a careful and phased approach. Approximately 200 to 300 buses will be replaced yearly, so the BIG BUS initiative will be finally completed by 2033.
□ Mayor Park Heong-joon underscored the change by saying, “Public design shapes urban identity and makes a lasting first impression. The BIG BUS will elevate the city’s image, traveling throughout Busan”. He added, “To make Busan the best city for public transportation, we are committed to carrying out citizen-oriented transit policies, such as the BIG BUS and the Dongbaek Pass.”
