□ The Busan Museum will hold the ‘Cultures and Histories of Indigenous People in North America’ exhibition from October 29th, 2024 through February 16th, 2025 in the Special Exhibition Room.
○ Co-organized by the National Museum of Korea and Denver Art Museum—a first of its kind in the United States to collect Native American artworks, ‘Cultures and Histories of Indigenous People in North America’ is a significant historical event dealing with the lifestyle, culture, and art of the Native American tribes and will be on display for the first time in Korea.
○ Although the exhibition already took place at the National Museum of Korea between June 18th and October 9th, 2024, the event will be on display again at the Busan Museum as part of the traveling exhibits that the National Museum of Korea conducts to increase cultural opportunities in non-capital areas.
□ This grand showcase highlights approximately 150 carefully selected works, including Native American crafts and paintings from the Denver Art Museum’s extensive collection of over 18,000 objects. Composed of Part 1: ‘People Who Were Grateful for the Heaven and the Earth’ and Part 2: ‘People Who Faced Another World,’ the exhibition will offer profound insights into the lives and culture of the original inhabitants of the Americas and the changes they had to confront amid conflicts and crises with European settlers.
