Busan Metropolitan City’s Financial Assistance for Vulnerable Patients

□ Busan Metropolitan City will continue helping the underprivileged, such as uninsured foreign workers and marriage immigrants, and pay their hospital bills in the second half of the year as well.

□ We shall be responsible for 90 percent of hospitalizations, surgeries, and related outpatient costs to ensure minimum standards for quality of life for working and marriage immigrants and their children under 18 who are unable to stay covered by health insurance and benefits.

○ If you are treated at Pusan National University Hospital, Busan Medical Center, Family Health Clinic, Ilsin Christian Hospital, Daedong Hospital, or Good Samsun Hospital, rest assured that we will meticulously review the medical institution’s documents and the National Health Insurance Service’s opinions. We will then provide support from the budgets of the Busan Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

□ To be a beneficiary, you need to have resided in Korea for longer than 90 days and receive a professional diagnosis for a disease contracted in Korea. However, those qualified for health insurance plans, or those injured in traffic accidents or assaults are not eligible.

○ During the first half of the year, we successfully handled 234 inpatient and outpatient cases for working and marriage immigrants and their children from Vietnam, China, and the Philippines, to name a few.
