The city of Busan has announced that the city installed a Boogi & Pinkfong Baby Shark Photo Zone at Haeundae Beach in association with the Panorama Haeundae Service, which uses drones to photograph scenery and people.

Busan’s seagull Boogi is a mascot of the city widely loved at home and abroad. Pinkfong’s Baby Shark is playing the role of the No. 5 honorary ambassador for the city’s World Expo 2030 bid. The Boogi & Baby Shark sculptures were set up at the Gimhae International Airport International departure terminal in March to welcome the BIE during their due diligence of Busan, and the sculptures were transferred to Haeundae Beach, Busan’s leading tourist attraction, in June of this year. They are continuing PR activities to raise support for the city to host the World Expo in Busan.

The Panorama Haeundae Service can be used via QR code with a smartphone in front of the Haeundae Beach Tourist Information Center. If a user presses the “shoot” button, two high-resolution cameras installed on the building’s rooftop, 100 meters from the beach, photograph tourists and the view of Haeundae Beach before transmitting the photo to their email or smartphone. Beyond the existing method of photographing with a smartphone or using a selfie stick in tourist attractions, the Panorama Service offers an advantage that people and views can be simultaneously photographed with an optimal viewing angle.

The city is hopeful that Boogi and Baby Shark will help elevate enthusiasm in the city in support of hosting the 2030 World Expo and that the pair will greet domestic and foreign tourists at the city’s leading tourist attraction.
