The city of Busan announced that it has reduced the Geogadaegyo Bridge toll for small and medium-sized vehicles during weekends and holidays by 20 percent starting January 1, 2023 as a test operation. It aims to expand regional exchanges between Busan and the Gyeongnam region to revitalize the local economy and tourism.
Normal toll fares for Geogadaegyo Bridge are set at 5,000 won for compact vehicles, 10,000 won for small vehicles, 15,000 won for medium-sized vehicles, 20,000 won for large vehicles and 25,000 won for extra-large vehicles.
The toll discounts of 20 percent apply to small and medium-sized vehicles during weekends and holidays. As such, the toll for small-sized vehicles will be lowered to 8,000 won from 10,000 won and for medium-sized vehicles to 12,000 won from 15,000 won effective January 1, 2023. Considering the financial burden for Busan and Gyeongnam, a toll discount on weekdays is not available.
After the test operation concludes after a one year period, the city will improve any insufficiencies and then officially re-implemented the toll discount in the first half of 2024.
