Busan Museum of Art Hosts Collection: The Great Journey Exhibition
The Busan Museum of Art (BMA) announced that a special exhibition ‘Collection: The Great Journey’ will be held jointly with Busan Ilbo on the third floor of the BMA from November 11, 2022 to January 29, 2023.
Collection: The Great Journey, will allow visitors to see the traces of collectors that have continued their great journey with a love for art, hoping to protect that love by gathering their collections in one place. This exhibition will introduce the modern and contemporary collections of the art scene’s leading figures, as well as Lee Kun-hee’s collections, which were donated to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Museum, Daegu Art Museum, and Jeonnam Provincial Museum of Art.
Lee Kun-hee’s collection puts together his works from the following institutions: The Leeum Museum of Art’s collection; an educational institution’s collection, Korea University Museum’s collection; a corporation’s collection, Amorepacific’s collection; a private collection, Museum San collection, an art merchant’s collection, and Ghana Foundation for Arts and Culture’s collection.
The introduced artists have built their collections by researching modern and contemporary art in their own domain over a long period. They have played a pivotal role in filling the gap in modern art and protecting the works of artists who have instilled a passionate consciousness for creation in the fetters of history.
An official from the BMA stated, “I hope this exhibition will become an opportunity to look at the positive activities of the collectors, which range from collecting to sharing and also to re-examine the diverse journey of Korean art.”
