On October 26 (U.K. time), Busan Metropolitan City Hall announced that Busan was selected as one of the best travel destinations by the National Geographic Traveller, a well-known travel magazine.
National Geographic is a world-renowned magazine with a wide reach in Europe. It serves as an icon of travel information magazines for travelers worldwide.
The magazine announced five categories: nature, adventure, family, community, and culture, with seven cities in each, comprising the 35 most inspiring travel destinations for 2023. Busan was selected as one of the seven cities in the culture category. National Geographic introduced Busan by pointing out that it is home to the Busan International Film Festival, good coffee, beer, and corresponding cafes and breweries, and mentioning it as a city with high cultural value.
National Geographic stated the reason Busan was selected as follows: “Diverse attractions exist in Busan where mountains and oceans are located, and tourism resources such as culture and food harmonize with one another. So, it is a city offering meaningful value to all travelers.” The magazine added “Busan gains attention as a new tourist destination to Europeans who are highly interested in Korean culture, including K-content.”
Currently, adding to the significance of the article, a wide-angle view of the city is on the cover of the National Geographic Traveller official website’s main page.
A Busan city official said, “This is an opportunity to let the world know about Busan’s attractiveness at a time when tourism is resuming worldwide.”
