Fourth COVID-19 Vaccination(Second Booster) Guideline for Foreign Residents aged 60 and older
The Omicron infections have continued to rise among older people with critical cases and deaths particularly rising. In this regard, Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) will administer a second COVID-19 vaccine booster shot for foreign residents aged 60 years and older to protect them against severe illness with COVID-19, including hospitalizations and deaths.

In this regard, Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) will administer a second COVID-19 vaccine booster shot for foreign residents aged 60 years and older to protect them against severe illness with COVID-19, including hospitalizations and deaths. ► Eligible Recipients Foreign residents aged 60 years and older who received an initial booster (third vaccination) 4 months (120 days) ago in or outside of Korea. It is strongly recommended for the elderly over 80 at high risk to get a second booster shot. * People who had COVID-19 before orafter receiving theirfirst booster shot are able to get a second booster on a voluntary basis. Vaccine Type and Interval between Vaccine Doses o For a 2nd booster dose, either mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or Novavax vaccine will be offered. Eligible recipients can get a 2nd booster shot at least 4 months (120 days) after their 1st COVID-19 booster. * However, those in nursing homes orfacilities (incl. community mental health facilites) or with a weakened immune system can receive a second booster dose at an interval of 3 months (90 days). Vaccination Schedule and Location o Appointment bookings for a 2nd booster shot have been opened since April 18, 2022 and eligible recipients can receive a booster shot on a selected date. o Same-day appointments are available from April 14, 2022 if vaccination sites have leftover vaccines. o Regardless of health insurance status, eligible recipients can receive a booster shot at designated medical institutions or public health centers. ► How to Make an Vaccination Appointment 1. If you are 60 years of age and older and received both primary doses and the first booster in Korea 1) Registered Foreigners : You can make a vaccination appointment online or by phone for yourself or on behalf of someone else just like how you scheduled your primary vaccination appointments. Online : Visit https://ncvr.kdca.go.kr and make an appointment through the COVID-19 vaccination booking system. Phone : Contact KDCA call center at tit 1339 or your local government call center. Same-day appointments available : Call a medical institution or public health center to confirm vaccine availability and if confirmed, you can be vaccinated on the same day as the appointment from March 14, 2022. * Same-day appointments for leftover vaccines through SNS are available. 2) Unregistered Foreigners (incl. illegal residents) :You can make a vaccination appointment by phone or visiting a public health center or medical institution with your temporary management numberthat you received for your COVID-19 primary vaccination. An ID card, a passport or a residence card is not required to obtain a temporary management number. 2. If you are 60 years of age and older and received both primary doses and the first booster outside of Korea o Visit a public health center near you and bring your ID card. Request a temporary management number and register your international vaccination records. You can then make a booster shot appointment by phone or visiting a public health center or medical institution. Note - All personal information that you provide will be used only for vaccination.
