To help Busan residents and visitors to Busan cheer up amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, the City of Busan has installed a sculpture of Boogi, Busan’s public outreach character, at Haeundae Beach.

A 2.75 meter high and 3 meter wide Boogi figure holds fishcake and ssiat hotteok (griddlecake with sugar and seed filling) in both its hands and wears shoes with painted camellia flowers. The Boogi sculpture serves as a good photo zone and helps promote Busan to visitors. Boogi also has on a transparent face mask and a band-aid after its COVID-19 vaccination. It will also send a message to convey quarantine measures and encourage people to get their COVID-19 vaccine for their safety.

The photo taking event takes place on social media from January 19 to February 20, 2022.

People can participate in the event by posting their photo with Boogi in Haeundae Beach on their social media account with the hash tag #부기와함께꽃길만걷자. You should wear a face mask when you taking a photo with Boogi. The city plans to give away Boogi mug cups to 100 selected event participants.
