The City of Busan is set to introduce three jumbo low-floor buses to three overcrowded bus routes during rush hour.
The local bus numbers for the low-floor bus service are 20 (Yongho-dong to Seomyeon), 24 (Yongho-dong to Seomyeon) and 27 (Yongho-dong to Chungmu-dong). These bus routes have high congestion and are very crowded with commuter and student passengers during rush hour.
The 12-meter long jumbo low-floor bus has a maximum capacity of 90 passengers, including standing passengers. In addition, it has three doors including two doors for exiting and one door for boarding.
The accessibility of the buses provides further convenience for the transportation vulnerable. The three buses are all equipped with a kneeling system, enabling those using wheelchairs to conveniently board and exit the bus without help from others. The bus can accommodate two wheelchairs or up to four strollers.
The City plans to expand its operation of jumbo buses to overcrowded bus routes to improve the convenience of public transportation and enhance efficiency.
