LPGA INTERNATIONAL BUSAN

The name change event of Asiad Country Club to ‘Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) International Busan’ took place on September 23, 2019. It was also the course’s reopening event after it underwent a complete renovation that started this past March through a partnership agreement made with the LPGA last year. LPGA International means LPGA-certified golf club and LPGA International Busan is the first LPGA golf facility outside of the United States.

The Asiad Country Club was a championship golf course created for the 2002 Asian Games in Busan before it underwent a complete renovation by world-renowned course designer Rees Jones, the "Open Doctor" who is known for his many designs and redesigns of more than 225 courses worldwide. His courses have hosted over 100 championship events.

The BMW Ladies Championship LPGA will take place at LPGA International Busan from October 24 to 27, 2019, and is hosted and organized by BMW Korea and the LPGA. It is the only LPGA tour event in Korea.

The BMW Ladies Championship LPGA will be hosted in Busan for three years starting this year until 2021. The event will be aired live in 160 countries worldwide and feature the world’s top ranked female golfers, including Ko Jinyoung, Lee Minji, Brooke Henderson and Lee Jeongeun6.

The city expects that it will help improve the city’s image as one of best golf destinations in Korea.
