The City of Busan has announced that it will open Gwangandaegyo bridge to pedestrians again for three hours on Sunday, September 22nd from 7:30am to 10:30am.
The city hosted the same event on Gwangandaegyo bridge on July 27, 2019 with about 40,000 participants attending. The event in September will be improved upon based on the results of the first event on July 27th.
To promote a walking culture as part of the city’s ‘human-centered walking innovation’ policy, the 4.9 kilometer portion of the upper level of the bridge, from the BEXCO tollbooth to the ramp heading to the Mega Mart Namcheon branch in Suyeong-gu, will be open to pedestrians on a trial basis. It is a free public event. You can easily reach the BEXCO tollbooth by walking from BEXCO metro station exit 5.
While walking across the bridge, you can enjoy a parade, performances, various photo zones and food trucks.
Traffic on the upper level of the bridge will be shut down from 6:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on September 22, 2019, while the lower level of the bridge will be open to vehicles. To ensure an adequate amount of walking time, participants are allowed to enter the bridge between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
The event may be cancelled due to inclement weather.
