The City of Busan has been selected as the venue for the opening ceremony of Hanbok Culture Week 2019.

Hanbok Culture Week 2019, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Hanbok Advancement Center of Korea Craft & Design Foundation, aims to promote traditional hanbok culture to the public.

Hanbok Culture Week 2019 will take place from October 2 to 6 nationwide.

The theme of the opening ceremony will be “Hanbok! In a sea of films”. To promote the beauty of hanboks worldwide, various hanbok related programs, including a hanbok sponsorship at the BIFF opening ceremony, hanbok exhibition, hanbok experience booth with photo zone and hanbok related market will be featured during this year’s Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) from October 3 to 12.

The opening ceremony of Hanbok Culture Week 2019 will take place at The Bay 101 in Haeundae and feature various hanbok related cultural artistic events, including a fashion show, traditional music and dance performance, taekwondo demonstration, flash mob and more.

Busan has abundant hanbok cultural infrastructure, with hanbok masters and organizations, and Busan’s hanbok industry centered in Busanjin market, the nation’s second largest in scale.

The City of Busan expects the hosting of the opening ceremony will vitalize the local tourism industry and hanbok industry through the promotion of hanbok culture.
