The opening ceremony of WeWork Seomyeon took place on April 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. It is the company’s first office outside Seoul.


WeWork Seomyeon occupies floors 3 to 8 in the Hyundai Card Busan building and has space to hold about 700 people. It is equipped with a lounge, large screen projector, cafeteria and rooftop space for its members. The office location is conveniently accessible by metro lines 1 or 2 and local buses.


WeWork members can use any of the over 425 WeWork offices located in about 100 cities in 27 countries around the world and also get access to its global network to expand around the world.


Matthew Shampine, Director of WeWork Asia-Pacific said that WeWork’s expansion to Busan will contribute to local job creation and global business opportunities as a partner of the City of Busan.


WeWork is an American company that provides shared workspaces for technology startup subculture communities, and services for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups, small businesses and large enterprises. Founded by Adam Neumann and Miguel McKelvey in 2010, it is headquartered in New York City. WeWork is now in 100 cities and 27 countries, and its community has grown to reach over 400,000 members across 425 locations globally. A total of 15 WeWork offices opened in Korea as of April 2019, with its member companies including LG CNS, SK, KB Life Insurance, GE and more. Enterprise clients, companies that employ more than 1,000 people, now make up 32 percent of WeWork’s membership. They include Microsoft, Standard Chartered, Liberty Mutual, UBS, Samsung and more.


The City of Busan announced that the tentatively named ‘Busan City-WeWork Fintech Hub Center’ is scheduled to open at the BIFC (Busan International Finance Center) at the end of July 2019 to grow Busan into a mecca for the global Fintech industry. It will be the company’s second branch office in Busan.
