The 2019 ASEAN- ROK Commemorative Summit is set to take place from November 25-26 in Busan.
The Senior Secretary to the President for Public Communication, Yoon Do-Han announced during a media briefing on April 1, 2019 that President Moon Jae-in will invite the heads of state and government officials from the ten ASEAN member states as well as the Secretary-General of ASEAN to the 2019 ASEAN- ROK Commemorative Summit. It will be held in Busan from November 25-26 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Korea-ASEAN Dialogue Relations.
The Summit will be the largest official international conference to be held in Korea since President Moon Jae-in’s inauguration. This gathering is expected to be an opportunity to take stock of the progress made within the Korea-ASEAN relationship over the past 30 years and set out a vision for development over the next three decades.
In addition, the summit will serve as an occasion to review what the Korean Government’s New Southern Policy has achieved in various sectors and as a catalyst for boosting the implementation of the policy in a more mutually beneficial manner.
The City of Busan was the successful venue for the 2014 ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit and many other international conferences. The ASEAN Culture House, located in Haeundae-gu, has played a major role as a cultural bridge between Korea and the 10 ASEAN countries by working alongside the City of Busan.
Through the successful hosting of the 2019 ASEAN- ROK Commemorative Summit this November, the city expects to significantly improve the international status of Korea and further enhance the city’s brand.
