The City of Busan has announced that SILKAIR, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will launch non-stop flights between Singapore and Busan, starting from May 1, 2019. The route will be the first to offer medium-range flights from Gimhae International Airport.

The airline will operate four weekly flights (Tue, Thu, Sat and Sun). The flight will arrive at Gimhae International Airport at 7:00 a.m. and depart Busan to Singapore (Changi) at 8:30 a.m. (8:00 a.m. on Tuesday). The new service will use Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts, with 156 seats, which feature both business and economy class cabins.

“We are pleased to introduce services to Busan, offering customers in Singapore and around the region yet another vibrant and charming destination to explore in our network,” said SilkAir Chief Executive Mr. Foo Chai Woo. “For Koreans traveling from Busan, the new route will also offer greater access and connectivity with the SilkAir and Singapore Airlines network in Asia-Pacific and beyond.”

Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don said, “We are very pleased in the outcome of our efforts to launch flights between Busan and Singapore. Singapore is a port city closely related to Busan’s own shipbuilding, shipping and finance industries, and Changi Airport Singapore, one of the largest transportation hubs in Southeast Asia, will improve customer satisfaction. We will make further efforts to contribute to the growth of the local economy by launching new airline routes connecting major cities around the world.
