The
City of Busan has announced that the ‘Cinema Robotics Lab’ has been completed
in the Busan Cinema Studio on December 13, 2018 and started the operation of
the next-generation
robotic imaging control system that integrates ICT, video, and robot technology
in film studios with various equipment in order to integrate the related
technologies.
The
three-dimensional production center Digital Bay, which is Asia's first virtual
studio, has been working on the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “cinema robotics”
establishment project to revamp some of the Busan Cinema Studio and adopt
so-called ‘cinema robotics’ by 2020 since first beginning in 2018. The
completion of the project will see the latest robotic technology applied to the
film-making process in the city. Busan invested a total of 6 billion won from
both the central government and city’s budget.
Using
cinema robotics technology can reduce errors of composition with computer
graphics, as well as production time, and can help cut production costs by up
to 30 percent.
The
City of Busan expects that the successful completion of the project improves
industrial competence in order to dominate and contribute to creating jobs in
the high-value immersive content market.
