The Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum uses the former Dongyang Cheoksik Corporation Busan Branch (later known as the American Cultural Center and the Busan Modern History Museum), a building from the Japanese colonial period, and the former Bank of Korea Busan Main Office, designed by Yi Cheon-seung, one of the first generation of Korean architects.
The main building encompasses the Vault Museum, which preserves the old bank’s vaults; the Children’s Playground, both for children and parents; the Permanent Exhibition Hall, where Busan’s condensed modern and contemporary history unfolds around every corner; and the Special Exhibition Hall.
Within the Annex, you can browse books and materials on the city’s history and encounter diverse events.
