Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Busan Metropolitan Government and hosted by the Busan Contents Market Association, Busan Contents Market (BCM) is the largest content market in Asia. Busan Contents Market 2019 will run May 8~11 (Wed~Sat) at BEXCO’s Exhibition Center I (2B, Hall 3).
This year’s event will be the largest in its history, with the participation of approximately 1,100 companies from 50 countries and 3,100 buyers and sellers. BCM 2019 will focus on catering to Korean and foreign buyers and sellers, and a simplified application process will be offered through an advance online reservation system. To attract buyers from more diverse channels, BCM will be expanded to include Russia, South America, and Eastern Europe.
Korean and foreign broadcasting companies, investment firms, production companies, and other decision-makers will be invited to the BCM Global Pitching Program. This is expected to produce substantive outcomes, including revitalization of content production and expansion of sales routes for small and medium-sized content producers.
BCMMARKET+, which features converged content, will present visitors with a wide range of programs, including a “one-person creator experience” (in response to the growing influence of individually-created content), a news broadcasting experience, and a townhall-style meeting with webtoon artists, in addition to exhibitions on new media and convergence-based content. A variety of services will be on hand to encourage participation by small and medium-sized production companies (free booth use, interpretation, invitation of foreign buyers, etc.). With many more auxiliary events available, BCM 2019 comes amidst heightened expectations.
