□ The Busan Construction Headquarters announced that on February 1st they will start the Gwangandaegyo Bridge Smart Tolling Construction Project which utilizes cutting-edge technology.
○ Smart tolling uses technology to automatically charge tolls by recognizing a vehicle’s license plate number while the vehicle is still being driving, irrespective of the installation of the “Hi-pass” system. The technology removes the need for a toll gate and allows vehicles to pass through without reducing their speed.
○ As this method also collects tolls from vehicles without the need for using the Hi-pass system, these users will be issued a “deferred payment notice via an e-notice” and “automatic collection through a pre-image agreement service.”
□ 6.9 billion KRW will be invested into the project. With the implementation design completed last year, the Busan Construction HQ is ready to start setting up the project immediately.
□ The multi-lane Hi-pass system, with this new smart tolling technology application, will be installed in four access/exit points for Gwangandaegyo Bridge around Daeyeon-dong by September 2024. Following test runs, the Busan Construction HQ plans to finish construction by the end of November 2024.
○ The four access/exit points are located at the ramp in front of LG Metro City, #49 square in the direction of city gas five-junction, #49 square in the direction of Gwangandaegyo Bridge, and in front of Mega Mart.
○ The currently operational Gwangandaegyo Bridge BEXCO and Suyeonggang River toll gates are scheduled to be successively demolished in connection with the Internal Circulation (Mandeok-Centum) Urbanization Expressway and the Gwangandaegyo Bridge Approach-connection constructions.
