Volleyball Player, Kim Yeon-koung Appointed as Honorary Ambassador for WADA’s 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport

The city of Busan has announced that it has appointed Korean professional volleyball player, Kim Yeon-koung as an honorary ambassador to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA’s) 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport on June 1, 2023.
Kim Yeon-koung will work as an ambassador to protect youth players stay clear of doping and promote fair play in all sports.
The ambassador appointment ceremony took place on June 11, 2023 at Busan City Hall. The ceremony was attended by Busan Vice Mayor of Administrative Affairs Ahn Byung-yoon: WADA President of Witold Bańka, KADA Secretary-General Kim Geum-pyeong.
On June 3rd, Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon met with WADA President Witold Bańka to discuss ongoing cooperation efforts in the context of WADA’s 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport.
The city of Busan will actively cooperate for successful hosting of the 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport in Busan along with the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA).
Busan has been selected as the host city for the sixth World Conference on Doping in Sport, which will take place in November 2025 for the first time in Asia.
The World Conference convenes athletes and more than 1,500 representatives from Sport Movement, governments, national and regional anti-doping organizations, laboratories, service providers, researchers and the media – all those that are integral to the mission for doping-free sports. The previous host cities of the World Conference were Lausanne, Switzerland (1999), Copenhagen, Denmark (2003), Madrid, Spain (2007), Johannesburg, South Africa (2013) and Katowice, Poland (2019).
WADA was established in 1999 as an independent international agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sports. WADA’s governance and funding are based on equal partnership between the Sport Movement and governments of the world.
