The
seats in Busan’s bus shelters will be heated for those waiting passengers during
the winter season.
As
part of the city’s public transport utilization promotion project, the city
plans to install heated seats in all Busan bus shelters by 2022.
Heated
seats were installed at the Olympic Junction bus transfer center as a pilot project
this past January. Heated seats will first be installed at bus shelters and
transfer centers on the bus rapid transit (BRT) line. A total of 22
installations from Dongnae Station to Jaesong Station (one way towards
Haeundae) were completed as of November 12, and 79 installations from Naeseong
Junction in Dongnae to Unchon Samgeori in Haeundae will be completed by the end
of November.
The
temperature of the heated seats will be kept between 42°C and 45°C by an
automated heating system. The heated seats will be in operation beginning from
the first bus at 5:00 a.m. to the last bus at 11:00 p.m.
For
the hot summer season, the city installed 334 air curtains at bus stops for bus
passengers this past summer, with plans to install them all over the city by
2022. The city has been steadily improving public transit facilities for the
convenience of mass transit users to encourage more people to use public
transit.
