Colorful Lanterns Light Up Busan Streets

Busan Lotus Lantern Festival  

To celebrate Buddha’s birthday which falls on May 3rd this year, beautiful lanterns will light up the Busan streets of Gwangbok-ro, Busan Citizens Park and temples around Busan.

Busan Lotus Lantern Festival 2017 will take place from April 29th to May 7th at Busan Citizens Park. About 150 lanterns featuring lotuses and other traditional figures and objects representing people’s wishes have been crafted by the Busan Buddhist Association, Beomeosa Temple and Samgwangsa Temple, and will be on display at the Park. The highlight of the lotus lantern festival is a lantern parade beginning and ending at the south entrance of Busan Citizens Park through Seomyeon area on April 29. 

The Lotus Lantern Cultural Festival at Gwangbok-ro takes place from April 22th to May 14th. The light show features various sculptured lanterns and 1,500 LED street lights. 

The Samgwangsa Temple Lantern Festival in Busan takes place from April 16th to May 3th. It is featured on CNN’s list of “50 Most Beautiful Places to Visit in Korea.”
