This October, Busan City hosts a variety of festivals, thereby further enhancing its growing reputation as a city of festivals ？ these include the 6th Busan International Fireworks Festival (10.21~10.23), the Pusan International Film Festival (10.7~10.15), the 2010 Busan Biennale(9.11~11.20), the 19th Jagalchi Cultural Tourism Festival(10.13~10.17), and the 15 Dongnae Eupseong Historical Festival(10.8~10.10)

Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF), dynamic and fast-growing, has already become one of the most significant film festivals not just in Asia but across the globe. From October 7 until 15, about 310 films from 70 countries around the world will be screened and 40 primers will be released for the first time during the PIFF. About ten thousand delegates including film directors, actors, actresses and film producers from 60 different countries are being invited and some two hundred thousand spectators are expected to fill every seat of every screening at the festival, as usual.

The program introduces 11 sections, including 'A Window on Asian Cinema' which showcases brand new and/or representative films by talented Asian filmmakers with diverse points of view and style, 'New Currents' which is the only international competition section featuring the first or second feature films by future leading directors of Asian cinema, 'World Cinema' which presents new works by world-renowned filmmakers along with some of the year's best films that help us to understand the recent trends in world cinema, 'Korean Cinema Today' which screens selected Korean feature films to introduce the current production trends of Korean cinema and anticipate its future, and others.

For the Special Programs in Focus, the Archeology of Korean Cinema, Kurdish Cinema, Irish Cinema and Spanish Cinema special programs are planned.

During the PIFF, the entire city is caught up in the festival mood. A variety of public events such as the hand printing event of famous movie celebrities at the PIFF Square in Nampo-dong and the Open Talk taking place in the PIFF Village in Haeundae will offer cinema-goers the chance to meet both domestic and international movie stars. From the very first day of the festival, film directors, actors and actresses will be introduced to their adoring fans at the PIFF Square everyday. Regional cultural performances and concerts will also boost the profile of the festival.

The 6th Busan International Fireworks Festival will be held for 3 days from October 21st until 23rd at Gwangalli Beach. As one of the special events of the 2010 Visit Korea Year, this year’s Busan International Fireworks Festival will be the biggest ever, and unique events will be held on each day of the festival.

Along with performances by Hallyu stars, the ‘World Fireworks Day’ will give the world an outstanding fireworks display, and the ‘Busan Fireworks Day’ will see a wide variety of special fireworks, lasers, lighting and music, incorporating high-end multimedia technology, which will wow the spectators at Gwangalli Beach with their unique and amazing effects.

On the first day of the festival, October 21st, a performance by well-known Hallyu stars will open this wonderfully exciting fireworks festival. On the second day of the festival, October 22nd, by inviting outstanding fireworks teams from Portugal, Italy and China, firework expertise from around the world will enhance the beauty of the festival and make it a truly global event.

On the last day of the festival (October 23^rd), with the Gwangan Bridge or Diamond Bridge providing a spectacular backdrop of a phoenix rising into the air, tens of thousands of magnificent fireworks will shower millions of colorful sparks into the night sky above the Gwangan Bridge and the sea, and the festival's grand finale, the “Niagara Falls” firework pouring fire from the Gwangan Bridge, will light up the sky with the golden colors of the fall season. The multimedia fireworks show will stay in your memory forever, an unforgettable experience of a lifetime for the more than one million spectators.

The fireworks show is being extended to 50 minutes from last year’s 45 minutes, while the image system which was introduced for the first time last year has been upgraded, to maximize the effect at this year's fireworks show.
