□ The Busan Institute of Health & Environment (hereinafter the “Busan Institute”) has announced that they have received a “satisfactory” grade, the highest available, in all four testing categories in which the Busan Institute participated following International Proficiency Testing by the US ERA (Environmental Resource Associate) last year.
○ The International Proficiency Testing is held annually and targets analysis institutions worldwide to improve their analytic capabilities and reliability. The testing is carried out from April to December every year by International Proficiency Testing agencies complying with ISO/IEC regulations.
○ The Busan Institute has participated in the testing, sponsored by the US ERA and SIGMA-ALDRICH, which are international proficiency testing institutions, since 2015.
□ The Busan Institute took part in the four testing categories (drinking water, water quality, soil, and environmental harmful factor <sand>) as part of the International Proficiency Testing. As the Busan Institute received the “satisfactory” grade in each area, it was certified with the distinction of ‘Laboratory of Excellence’.
○ 17 items were tested in the drinking water category, 20 items in the water quality category, 12 items in the soil category, and three items in the environmental harmful factor (sand) category.
□ The results showed that the Busan Institute achieved the top grade (satisfactory) in three categories (drinking water, water quality, and soil) for seven consecutive years starting in 2015, when the institute started to participate in the testing. Consequently, the Busan Institute’s excellence-rated analysis capability is recognized internationally.
○ The Busan Institute added the environmental harmful factor (sand) category for the first time last year and received the top grade, which is yet another opportunity to prove the Institute’s excellent analytic capabilities.
