The city of Busan and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency have announced that the Busan e-Sports Arena will officially open on November 18, 2020.

The arena is located on the 15th and 16th floors of the Samjung Tower building in Seomyeon, Busan.

With 3 billion won invested by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Busan Metropolitan City each, the Busan e-Sports Arena, with a total area of 2,739 square meters, will serve as a multi-cultural complex. The arena consists of a 330-seat main arena, two 128-seat sub-arenas, facilities for players and staff, and audience amenities. The main arena has 38 specialized seats for an enhanced viewing experience - 30 sports bar-type ‘B PUB’ seats, and 8 ‘Sweet Box’ seats for VIPs – along with 292 regular audience seats.

For the post-Corona era, all gaming events are able to be broadcast live online based on around 300 systems optimized for e-Sports games, including UHD digital signage and 4K e-Sports live game streaming and broadcast systems.

The 1st sub-arena ‘Blue Space’, equipped with 48 computers, will be used for preliminary matches, an e-Sports academy and e-Sports research and development (R&D) center. The 2nd sub-arena, ‘Yellow Space’ has movable stands up to a maximum of 80 seats and a stage for hosting multi-purpose events along with gaming events.

The arena will be used not only to host gaming events, but will also be used as a multi-cultural complex for e-Sports game launch events, cosplay festivals and more.

The city of Busan plans to use the center as a foundation for the development of e-Sports, including attracting professional e-Sports leagues and events to Busan and organizing immersive programs to nurture and support amateur and professional e-Sports players.

The following e-Sports events are scheduled to be held at the Busan e-Sports Arena in the months ahead.

G-Star Cup 2020 (Nov. 20 – 21), The 5th Global Esports Executive Summit 2020 (Nov. 29-30), National eSports Tournament for Office Workers (Dec. 19-20) and eSports Matchup Event ‘T.E.N’ (in Dec.)

The opening of the arena to the public is not yet scheduled in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
