The City of Busan will strengthen quarantine measures at beaches during the summer vacation season, including an extension on the order restricting gathering at beaches.

The following administrative orders had been set until August 15th, but the city will extend them until August 31, 2020.

The administration orders include prohibiting night drinking and eating between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. at five beaches, including Haeundae, Songjeong, Gwangalli, Songdo and Dadaepo, and mandatory mask wearing on the five beaches, nearby parks and beach roads 24-hours a day.

Local government officials will patrol the beaches alongside police. Violators will be reported to the police and charged with a fine of up to 3 million won. The crackdown on face mask violations will run 24-hours a day until August 31, 2020.

The city is planning to strengthen inspections and campaigns to encourage people to observe the prevention guidelines. The city will also boost quarantine measures at businesses located next to beaches and when beaches get too crowded, it will send disaster text messages, stop equipment rentals and restrict parking.

The city has introduced an on-site beach parasol allocation system, a QR code access system at Millak Waterfront Park and businesses by the beach, and beach crowd information for the safety of beachgoers.
