The Yonggungsa geosite is located around the Haedong Yonggungsa, a temple and tourist attraction point in the eastern part of Busan Metropolitan City. Unlike other temples mostly located in the mountains in Korea, Yonggungsa is located on the coast of the East Sea, which attracts many foreign and domestic tourists. At Yonggungsa Geosite, igneous rocks of the Yucheon Group and Bulguksa Granites are distributed. In particular, there are outstanding outcrops of mafic microgranular enclaves and xenoliths in fine granite. In addition, along with geological heritages, including systematic joint groups, mafic dikes, various igneous rocks of intermediate composition and tuffs, geomorphological heritages, such as sea cliffs, marine potholes, and tafoni are distributed.
